Care and maintenance
All of our fabrics are 100% polyester. Here are instructions to help preserve the fabric and reduce the risk of damage during washing; the full guide is in How to Care for Your Curtains.
Prepare your curtains for washing
- Identify each panel. Label each curtain panel and note the window or space it belongs to. That way, you'll know exactly where to rehang it.
- Take some photos or videos. They'll help you remember how the curtains were installed and make rehanging easier.
- Carefully remove each curtain from the track. Use a ladder if needed.
- Protect the top. Gather the section where the header tape with the hooks or clips is located.
- Use a delicates bag. Place the top of the curtain in the bag and close it gently with a drawstring.
Let's wash your curtains!
- Soak each panel for 30 minutes. Fill a container large enough with clean water and soak each panel. This will help loosen dirt and get better results during washing.
- Wash each panel separately. Put one piece at a time in the washing machine to prevent it from tangling or getting damaged.
- Use cold water. Avoid hot water to protect the fabric.
- Select the shortest wash cycle. This reduces washing time and handling of the fabric.
- Use clear liquid detergent for delicate fabrics, without chlorine.
- Avoid fabric softeners. These products may leave stains on the fabric.
- Use only the spin cycle to drain the curtain. Avoid wringing the fabric to remove water.
- Do not use a dryer. Your curtains should air dry while hanging.
- Do not use bleach or chlorine. These products can affect the characteristics and appearance of the fabrics.
- Do not dry clean. This process is not recommended for our fabrics.
It's time to rehang your curtains!
- Remove the curtain from the washing machine right away. Avoid leaving it in the drum after the cycle ends.
- Do not wring the fabric. Let the remaining water evaporate naturally as it dries.
- Remove the protective bag. Carefully untie the cord and release the top of the curtain.
- Rehang the curtain while it is still damp. This will help the fabric regain its natural drape and can noticeably reduce wrinkles as it dries.
- Let it dry while hanging. Handle the curtain with care and make sure the track and its brackets are properly installed and secure.
- If wrinkles remain, you can use a handheld garment steamer. You can do this while the curtain is still damp or after it has dried, to help the wrinkles disappear. Use steam carefully, following the steamer's instructions, and avoid applying excessive heat directly to the fabric.
Some care tips worth remembering
- Always follow the care instructions. In addition to this guide, check any instructions included on your product label.
- Avoid products that could damage the fabric. Do not use hot water, chlorine, a dryer, or cleaning products other than those recommended.
- Do a small test when possible. Before washing, you can test the process on a small or inconspicuous area of the fabric.
- Every fabric may respond differently. The fabric type, its finish, and the washing conditions can all affect the result. Rehanging the curtains while they are damp can help reduce wrinkles, although results may vary.
- Take care of your curtains throughout the process. Damage caused by washing, drying, cleaning, or handling the curtains in a way that goes against these instructions is not covered by the warranty.
