¡Vamos a cuidar tus cortinas!
¡Vamos paso a paso!
Paso 2. ¡Vamos a lavar tus cortinas!
8. No utilices secadora. Tus cortinas deben secarse naturalmente mientras permanecen colgadas.

A simple guide to keeping your curtains beautiful for a long time.
Let’s Take Care of Your Curtains!
We want you to enjoy your Drapery Life curtains for a long time.
That is why we have prepared this guide with a few simple steps to help you preserve the beauty of your curtains and keep them working well.
Our fabrics are 100% polyester, a tough, durable material that offers good resistance to sun exposure and can be washed with a few simple care steps. That way you can enjoy your curtains for a long time, keeping their beauty and appearance.
The washing instructions in this guide apply to all of our Drapery Life fabrics: Sheer, Light Filtering, and Blackout.
You can wash your curtains in your home washing machine. Just make sure it is in good condition, clean, and free of rust that could stain or damage the fabrics.
Let’s go step by step!
Before You Begin
Have Everything on Hand
To care for your curtains, you will need:
- Mesh laundry bags for washing delicates in the washing machine.
- A drawstring to close the bags.
- A ladder to reach the top of the curtains.
- A container large enough to soak each panel.
- Clear liquid detergent for delicates, bleach-free.
And that’s it! With these items, you’re ready to begin.
Step 1. Get Your Curtains Ready for Washing
Before taking them down, let’s get them organized so that it is much easier to put them back up afterward.
Just follow these steps:
1. Identify each panel. Label each curtain panel and note which window or space it belongs to. That way you will know exactly where to rehang it.
2. Take a few photos or videos. They will help you remember how the curtains were installed and make reinstalling them easier.
3. Carefully remove each curtain from the track. Use a ladder if needed.
4. Protect the top. Gather the part where the header tape with the hooks or clips is located.
5. Use a laundry bag for delicates. Place the top of the curtain inside the bag and gently close it with a drawstring.
This will help keep the hooks or clips from touching the fabric and damaging it during washing.
A Drapery Life tip: Always wash each panel separately to keep the fabrics from tangling or getting damaged.
Step 2. Let’s Wash Your Curtains!
Now that your curtains are ready, we can begin washing.
Follow these simple recommendations:
1. Soak each panel for 30 minutes. Fill a large enough container with clean water and let each panel soak. This will help loosen the dirt and give you a better result when washing.
2. Wash each panel separately. Place only one piece in the washing machine to keep it from tangling or getting damaged.
3. Use cold water. Avoid hot water to protect the fabrics.
4. Select the shortest wash cycle. This reduces washing time and handling of the fabric.
5. Use clear liquid detergent for delicates, bleach-free.
6. Avoid fabric softeners. These products could stain the fabrics.
7. Use only the spin function to drain the water from the curtain. Avoid wringing the fabric to remove water.
8. Do not use a dryer. Your curtains should air-dry naturally while hanging.
9. Do not use bleach or chlorine. These products can affect the characteristics and appearance of the fabrics.
10. Do not dry clean. This procedure is not recommended for our fabrics.
That’s it! With these precautions, you will help protect the fabric during washing.
Step 3. Time to Rehang Your Curtains!
This step is very important to help your curtains regain their natural drape and reduce wrinkles.
When the wash cycle ends, follow these instructions:
1. Remove the curtain from the washing machine right away. Do not leave it inside the drum after the cycle ends.
2. Do not wring the fabric. Let the remaining water drain off naturally as it dries.
3. Remove the protective bag. Carefully untie the drawstring and free the top of the curtain.
4. Rehang the curtain while it is still damp. This will help the fabric regain its natural drape and can noticeably reduce wrinkles as it dries.
5. Let it dry while hanging. Handle the curtain carefully and make sure the track and its brackets are properly installed and secure.
6. If any wrinkles remain, you can use a steam iron or a garment steamer. You can do this while the curtain is still damp or after it has dried, to help the wrinkles disappear. Use the steam carefully, following the manufacturer’s instructions for your device and avoiding applying excessive heat directly to the fabric.
A Drapery Life tip: Use the photos you took before washing to put each panel back in its original position.
Step 4. A Few Care Tips Worth Remembering
We want to help you keep your curtains in the best condition. That is why there are a few important details you should know.
Always follow the care instructions.
In addition to this guide, check any instructions included on your product’s label.
Avoid products that can damage the fabric.
Do not use hot water, bleach, a dryer, or cleaning products other than those recommended.
Do a small test when possible.
Before washing, you can test the procedure on a small or inconspicuous area of the fabric.
Each fabric may respond differently.
The type of fabric, its finish, and the washing conditions can affect the result. Rehanging the curtains while they are damp can help reduce wrinkles, although results may vary.
Take care of your curtains throughout the entire process.
Damage caused by washing, drying, cleaning, or handling the curtains contrary to these instructions is not covered by the warranty.
Step 5. Let’s Take Care of the Tracks Too
Good news! The aluminum track and carriers of the Ripplefold system require very little maintenance.
With a few simple steps, you will help your curtains keep gliding smoothly.
Keep the Track Clean
Periodically remove dust with a soft, dry cloth.
If you need to clean the outer surface, use a slightly damp cloth and then dry it.
Keep water from getting inside the track.
Avoid Unsuitable Products
Do not use bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, or harsh chemicals.
Also, do not apply oil, grease, or spray lubricants to the track or the carriers.
Always Use the Baton
Your Drapery Life curtain includes a baton that lets you open and close it easily.
Use it for everyday operation. That way you will avoid touching the fabric and its folds directly, helping to preserve their appearance.
If Your Curtain Doesn’t Glide Easily
First, check that there is no dust or any objects obstructing the track.
Do not force the movement or try to remove the carriers.
Check the Brackets from Time to Time
Periodically check that the track brackets remain secure.
If you notice that the track is loose, bent, or damaged in any way, stop using it and contact an installer.
All Done! Enjoy Your Curtains for a Long Time
With these simple steps, you will help preserve the beauty and good performance of your Drapery Life curtains.
Remember that small details, such as protecting the fabric during washing, rehanging your curtains while they are damp, and keeping the tracks clean, can make a big difference.
